Since our founding in 1975, we have worked with San Diego philanthropic and civic leaders to launch supporting organizations and partner organizations dedicated to addressing specific needs in our region, including:
Charitable Real Estate Foundation
A supporting organization of San Diego Foundation, CREF is our team of industry leaders that recognizes the growing importance of real estate gifts in estate and tax planning as well as personal and family philanthropy.
The CREF board provides oversight and guidance for our Giving Team, helping donors and professional advisors tap into the substantial benefits of donating real estate assets and give a timely, accurate indication of the potential gift value of the property.
Coastal Community Foundation
Coastal Community Foundation has developed a proud and impactful history of philanthropy in North County San Diego, matching local people with opportunities to give back to their community and to causes that move them.
To expand its philanthropic impact and donor services, Coastal partnered with and integrated its assets and staff into San Diego Foundation operations in 2024.
San Diego Housing Fund
The current state of housing access isn’t working for San Diegans. A visionary initiative of San Diego Foundation, the San Diego Housing Fund (SDHF) is taking a new approach to providing faster, more efficient housing production across the spectrum of affordability.
By partnering with investors, developers and property owners to create housing for all San Diegans, SDHF is supporting the creation of 10,000 units of new housing by 2034.
San Diego Regional Policy & Innovation Center
An independent a 501(c)(3) organization, the San Diego Regional Policy & Innovation Center (PIC) is a partnership between San Diego Foundation, the County of San Diego, and the world’s leading think tank – The Brookings Institution – to conduct research and policy analysis and help solve the region’s biggest problems.
PIC’s niche is to address intractable issues that can only be solved with cross-sector, multi-jurisdictional collaborations.
San Diego Women's Foundation
Founded as a program and then supporting organization of San Diego Foundation, SDWF has grown to have more than 210 members. Each member has committed to an annual contribution of $2,500 or $1,250 (based on giving capacity) and has one vote to determine where grants will be awarded each year.
A portion of each member’s annual contribution is allocated to a permanent endowment fund that enables SDWF to benefit and strengthen the San Diego region far into the future.
