San Diegans are no strangers to giving back.
According to a 2014 University of San Diego Caster Center research report, 49 percent of San Diego households give money to local nonprofits, and more than one-third volunteer with a nonprofit organization.
For proof of this charitable spirit, look no further than The San Diego Foundation 2015 Annual Report.
40 years ago, a group of eight like-minded San Diegans came together to establish an organization that could help address current and new challenges in the region. Since then, thousands of local donors have given their time, talent and treasure to improve the quality of life for every generation of resident.
From business leaders and nonprofit organizations, to government officials and philanthropists, The San Diego Foundation serves as a partner and catalyst for collective impact.
A Year of Successes
With your support, we’re proud to address the needs of this region and help improve the quality of life for everyone.
From July 2014 to June 2015 (Fiscal Year 2015), we granted more than $38 million to San Diego organizations and programs serving our communities.
Among those organizations and programs are countless success stories, from arts and culture, to climate change and youth development. Read about them in our Annual Report.
Philanthropic Partnership
Our impact is only as great as those within our network. As we look at how many philanthropists give through The San Diego Foundation, it’s only natural to be encouraged for the future of San Diego.
Of the $48 million granted in FY2015, more than $38 million came from donor advised funds. That is a result of a strong giving community that wants to see San Diego thrive.
