June 6, 2022 – San Diego, CA – The 4SRanch~Del Sur Community Foundation (4SCF), an affiliate of San Diego Foundation, marked its 15th year of giving by granting $15,500 to four nonprofits to support programs that will enrich youth and help them recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the 4S Ranch and Del Sur communities.
“Since 2008, 4SRanch~Del Sur Community Foundation members have contributed their time, talent and treasure to enhance our community and strengthen quality of life for all our residents,” shared 4SCF Board Chair Theresa Burke. “This year’s grants reflect an ongoing commitment to support youth of 4S Ranch and Del Sur residents, while also responding to the long-term challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
4SCF is dedicated to improving the quality of life and meeting emerging needs in 4SRanch and Del Sur by increasing responsible and effective philanthropy; building a community endowment for the benefit of the region; providing funds annually to community organizations and causes; and giving the community a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit 4S Ranch and Del Sur now and forever. Since 2008, 4SCF members have granted more than $340,000 to nonprofit organizations working in the community to grow a more vibrant region.

The 2022 grantees include:
Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego ($5,000)
The grant will support the Junior Leader program, which has been created to enhance leadership skills in club members and to offer college and career exploration. The program targets members ages 10 and up. The program includes a compilation of curriculum from Boys & Girls Clubs of America and BGCGSD.
Reading Legacies ($5,000)
A grant of $5,000 will contribute to the development and love of reading for over 50 youth and 200 children in the 4S-Ranch Del Sur area. The program provides safe volunteer opportunities for 4SRanch-Del Sur youth by facilitating a recording of volunteers reading aloud on video to young children and seniors in their community.
Giving Network ($4,000)
A grant of $4,000 will support the participation of 4S Ranch-Del Sur community children in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by providing fun, hands-on engineering educational programs in robotics. Participants will learn how to build and control robots, following step-by-step instructions.
Poway Unified School District Running Clubs ($1,500)
The grant will support running clubs and running club sponsorships at four elementary schools in 4S Ranch and Del Sur, including Design36Campus, Del Sur, Monterey Ridge and Stone Ranch. This program addresses the need to involve the children in ongoing physical activities, to improve their fitness and establish healthy habits for life. Coming out the pandemic, it has the added goal of re-socializing and “re-activating” children who have been in lock-down.
