Greetings Carlsbad Charitable Foundation members. As our grants committee knows, 2019 has been about vetting the wonderful proposals we received in response to our annual grant cycle.

Thank you to those that were able to join us Thursday, April 25 in the culmination of these efforts at the 12th Annual Grants Celebration at the beautiful home of members Dr. Bruce and Sheri Sachs. You should all feel very proud of the fact that we awarded $73,000 to four nonprofit organizations with programs that will strengthen community engagement among youth and seniors in the Carlsbad region.

I feel this is an incredibly important topic nowadays. In fact, according to a Stanford University study, aging adults can play a critical role in the lives of younger people and offer resources that cannot be found in a book or on the internet. From learning new skills and passing on wisdom to simply playing a board game, intergenerational relationships and mentorships can encourage, inspire and entertain youth and older adults alike.

The 2019 CCF grants aim to bring these book-end generations together to strengthen community engagement and advance quality of life across Carlsbad.

Looking ahead, we have several more events this year as well as our focus discovery survey in the summer. Keep an eye out for that and check out our member feature below.

It has been a true honor serving you this year. Thank you for all you do to make our community the best it can be. I look forward to continuing to increase our impact year after year!

And remember the more we share CCF with others, the more we will have to grant year after year. If you have friends and neighbors who are interested in getting involved, encourage them to become a member today by contacting Estela Mitrani at estelam@sdfoundation.org.

We were hooked by the service projects and impressed by its strong impact in our community. Our family has a pay it forward mentality and becoming involved with this organization is a perfect fit.”

Without support from members like Dawn and Jeff, CCF would not have as strong of an impact in the community.

Thank you for your generous support!
