Members and friends,
We’re happy to share that our Request for Proposals was released and sent to nonprofits serving Carlsbad on Oct. 30.
For this grant cycle, Carlsbad Charitable Foundation will be accepting Letters of Intent for projects that promote civility, unity, community building and concern for the common good. We hope to encourage projects that involve community collaboration, cooperation, and partnerships that focus on multigenerational impact in Carlsbad. Please feel free to spread the word to organizations and their contacts as well.
As we approach the end of the year, there is a ton of excitement and effort around building fellowship among members and spreading awareness of CCF’s great work. Our Fall Mixer in September at Agua Hedionda Lagoon was a wonderful evening where new faces connected with familiar ones to learn how they can add to our collective impact.
We also started a CCF happy hour for a more causal way to connect and bond. We meet at The Crossings on the third Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. Please join us at the next two happy hours on Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.
And finally, our Holiday Event is scheduled for Dec. 6 at Barrio Glassworks. Be sure to RSVP as soon as you can.
Increasing our grantmaking capacity is dependent on membership retention and growth, which remains a huge focus for our board and committees. Plans for more community outreach and an increase in content will make CCF more familiar to community-minded individuals and businesses around Carlsbad. We also appreciate your help in sharing the joy of collective giving with your neighbors, colleagues and friends. Events and social activities are a great way to introduce them to CCF.

Please know that your commitment makes a difference in the lives of so many in Carlsbad. None of us can do it alone, but together we can make a significant and sustainable impact on the community that we love.
Please contact Regional Affiliates Manager, Michael Oliveri at moliveri@sdfoundation.org for more information.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
With gratitude,

Grantee Spotlight: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation
For the 2023-2024 school year, Carlsbad Charitable Foundation awarded $14,982 to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation for the Academy of Environmental Stewardship (AES). Through this funding, all Carlsbad third-grade students attending the five elementary schools located within Carlsbad city limits, but are not in Carlsbad Unified School District (Olivenhain Pioneer, La Costa Meadows, Carrillo, El Camino Creek and Mission Estancia), to attend AES for all three third-grade segments.
“By providing early education on environmental issues, students experience first-hand the skills needed to become environmental stewards. Experiential learning is powerful and lasting, and we believe that we can have an enduring impact by providing them with hands-on opportunities that teach them how to ‘think like scientists.’ The AES delivers key curricular content in an impactful way and adds to a student’s entire education and journey through life.” -Emily Bonds, Director of Education
