As a proud supporter of our region’s nonprofit community, San Diego Foundation is excited to be part of the second annual San Diego Gives. This is our annual day of giving in San Diego County, and 100% of all money raised will stay local to help the community we know and love.
Be sure to save the date for Sept. 8, 2022!
Give Local
We all know how important it is to eat local and shop local – we are excited to join the movement to give local. This special day will shine a light on the tremendous work of nonprofit organizations throughout San Diego County and connect people to the local causes they care about most.
Here’s how it works: San Diego Gives is a 24-hour online fundraiser for more than 100 participating nonprofits.
To participate, each organization must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrates a commitment to serving the greater San Diego area, responding to the needs of the community with a local-first approach, and making a tangible impact.
- Represents a variety of populations and causes served by its programs and services, including but not limited to age, race, zip code and diverse communities, and creates an environment of equity and inclusion.
- Presents a compelling appeal to donors, commits to keeping all funds raised in the greater San Diego area, and has a proven track record of fiscal responsibility.
Helping All San Diegans
The community-based organizations involved in this year’s San Diego Gives represent a variety of populations and causes. From providing food and housing assistance to services for youth and communities of color, the causes represented by San Diego Gives nonprofit participants assist in the well-being of the San Diego community.
Nonprofit organizations make a difference every day in San Diego County through their critical services that drive economic stability for the communities they serve, as well as serving as local employers.
Pandemic’s Impact
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many local nonprofit organizations experienced an increased demand for the services they provide to their communities. As outlined by the University of San Diego’s “State of the Nonprofits & Philanthropy Annual Report,” many organizations continue to impacted by an increase in operational costs due to supply chain challenges, workforce recruitment and increased utility costs, among other issues.
By donating during San Diego Gives, you can provide local nonprofit organizations the fiscal support they need to maintain and expand their services in the months to come.
